Various roles of Glutathione

Glutathione is the body’s master antioxidant. In fact it is the strongest antioxidant and is produced by the body cells themselves. It provides protection to our body cells and vital organs from the free radicals formed in the body and environmental pollution which we are exposed to everyday. Glutathione also helps to prevent the process of early aging.

Glutathione protects the healthy body cells from the damage caused by the free radicals. It, in fact, slows down the formation of free radicals in the body. Free radicals are very harmful and gradually weaken the immune system by destroying the healthy cells.

Glutathione being the body’s master antioxidant has the ability to slow down the aging process. Being an antioxidant, glutathione prevents and cures a number of degenerative diseases as well.

Glutathione protects the body from damage which can be caused by radiation. Also it is known to reduce the side effects of x-rays and chemotherapy.

Glutathione helps in the smooth functioning of the body organs like liver, lungs and brain.

But all these function of glutathione are adversely affected when there is a reduction of glutathione level in the body. Therefore to ensure that the various body functions are performed efficiently, a good level of glutathione needs to be present and maintained in the body.
